United Community Action Network

UCAN is a grassroots organisation that started mid-2012, in response to Capital and Coast DHB cutting $250,000 of funds to Newtown Union Health in Wellington. It soon became apparent to us that the on-going cuts to health services, especially in the primary health sector, are nationwide. UCAN believes we must work together to stop these destructive funding cuts. UCAN’s current focus is on helping the experts communicate about the impacts of these health cuts to those in charge and the wider public. From Newtown, UCAN NZ, has become a nationwide network.
