Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is the Catholic agency for justice, peace and development. We are mandated by the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference to undertake international aid and development programmes in New Zealand and the wider Pacific, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We advocate and provide education on justice and peace issues in New Zealand and Internationally.

One of our strategic priorities is around reducing the impact and incident of poverty in New Zealand and overseas. It is important to address inequality as part of a wider response to tackling poverty in New Zealand. Caritas continues to monitor and challenge decision makers to prioritise the common good rather than perpetuate a system which excludes and benefits a select few.
