Auckland Anglican Diocese Social Justice Council

Our main initiative at the moment is Living Wage Faith Group. Our main objective is to raise awareness of Social Justice issues in the Diocese, and Inequality is the main issue we are focussing on.

The Auckland Anglican Diocese Social Justice Council has been concerned about the ever growing inequality in New Zealand for some years. We have taken motions to our annual diocesan Synod on this subject for the last few years and provide both financial and volunteer support for a number of organisations working to reduce inequality including Living Wage Movement Aotearoa New Zealand, Child Poverty Action Group and the Auckland Action Against Poverty.

The council has two monthly newsletters that it contributes to:

  • Do Justice, produced by the Council members
  • Talking Cents, produced by an ecumenical group and focusing on economic issues.
