Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa

Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa is a national coalition. ACYA prepares and presents the shadow reports on Aotearoa New Zealand’s implementation of its international legal obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC). The shadow reports are presented periodically to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

What we do to reduce inequality

The reporting process helps place the government of Aotearoa under pressure to fulfil its commitments to our children and young people. UNCROC requires States to tackle discrimination and inequality in service delivery, such as health, education and a decent standard of living. Recognition of UNCROC rights recognises that children and young people are often powerless and depend on adults to deliver their rights and to ensure that they are given a voice in society.

Helpful support to our action could be…

These include health, education, youth justice, decent standard of living, care and protection, refugee and migrant children and those in special circumstances.
